Expedited Elections for PTA Secretary/Title 1 PAC+Alternate/SLT Member -September 16, 2024

PS163Q will hold expedited elections for the positions of  PTA Secretary and Title 1 PAC+ Alternate and SLT member nominations after the September general meeting on 09/16 @9AM.

2024-25 PTA Elections are coming up and we need you to help support our school

PTA Core Members Responsibilities (All positions are open for election)

  • Recording secretary
  • records motions, votes, decisions, financial activity, reports and discussion at all meetings.
  • prepares all meeting notices and agendas for distribution at association meetings.

The School Leadership Team (S.L.T.) position open for election is:

  • 1 Parent Position

The purpose of the team is to ensure that parents have a voice in important decisions being made in our school. The team meets once a month, after school for approximately 3 hours.  The term for all S.L.T. members is two years.

The responsibilities of the S.L.T. are to develop and review our schools Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP), including annual goals and objectives and to consult with the principal and assistant principal in developing a school-based budget and staffing plan aligned with the CEP. Members are financially compensated for their time at the end of the school year.

Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and PAC Chairperson Election

The Title I PAC will participate with the School Leadership Team (SLT) in the joint review, planning, and improvement of the school’s Title I program, and the development, revision and review of the parent and family engagement policy.

Responsibilities of Title I PAC Members:

All Title I Parent Advisory Council (PAC) members and officers shall regularly attend all scheduled meetings of the Title I PAC as representatives of the school’s Title I parent body to provide input and feedback on the school’s:

  • Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP), which also serves as the Schoolwide Program Plan (SWP) for SWP schools
  • Parent and Family Engagement Policy (PFEP) and School-Parent Compact (SPC).
  • Proposed spending plan for the use of the Title I parent and family engagement set-aside funding (a minimum of 1% of the school's Title I allocation) to support Title I parent and family engagement activities.

Chairperson Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the School Leadership Team (SLT) as the Title I PAC representative.
  • Decide how 1% of our Title I money should support your child’s education. Coordinate and draft a proposed spending plan for the use of the Title I parent and family engagement set-aside funding (a minimum of 1% of the school's Title I allocation) for approval by the Title I parents and SLT to support Title I parent and family engagement activities.
